Boil Up #3 is here!
Born in Harare, Zimbabwe. Raised in Auckland, New Zealand. Perfected in Melbourne, Australia. The Shottaz Afro Dancehall crew is comprised of MCs Hlats and Max Shotta. They've built themselves a reputation of delivering hard hitting lyrics combined with energetic live performances. Since relocating to Melbourne in 2018, the crew quickly established themselves in the local dancehall/reggae scene which saw them getting nominated for a Music Victoria award in 2019.
Dropping the riddims for this fire set is Ed G from the Sandy Bay Social Club, Friday night resident on Base.FM and stalwart of the dub scene on both sides of the Tasman.
Get ya lighters out, and stay tuned for more announcements coming soon!

Boil up #2 - Oakley
grenell aka O.G.
Our second mix is from a legend of the NZ scene; world-class producer, musician and top-notch DJ Oakley Grenell aka O.G. Before moving to Melbourne in 2010, Oakley had released 11 albums in NZ on his own Central Records label spanning genres of hiphop, dancehall, jungle, jazz and reggae from O.G, Otautahi Allstars, Eskimo Squad, Departure Lounge & his sister Amiria's NZ music award winning album 'Three Feathers'.
This mix is a celebration of some of his most loved groups and producers from back home. Expect his latest single ‘Clap Back’, some unreleased Central Records gems from his brother Beat Raskool and good friend Poncho San Pedro, plus a NZ classic of his Dads - I’ve Been Everywhere!

Boil up #1 - Shikung
We couldn't imagine a better DJ to launch our series than the maestro ShiKung, aka Pauly, a massively respected Melbourne DJ and one of Kiwi Fest's first supporters!
Pauly grew up in New Zealand but the passion for music from his homeland never faded. This lead him to work with such Kiwi acts as Fat Freddy’s Drop, Opiuo, Shapeshifter, Kora, Tiki Taane, The Black Seeds, Salmonella Sound System, The Nomad, Ladi 6, Pitch Black and The Upbeats.
A performer who’s all about good vibrations and the moment, Pauly knows more about Kiwi music than any other person we know!
What are you looking forward to most when the Trans-Tasman border opens?
I miss my family so much, having them visit or visiting them would be great!! Plus a dose of great Kiwi live music would be amazing.
